Atticus Shaffer is perhaps best known as a voice actor for voicing Edgar Gore’s character in the animated movie Frankenweenie. He has also voiced characters in other successful movies and various television series.
In The Penguins of Madagascar, he voiced both of the Vesuvius Twins. As a live-action actor, his role as Brick Heck in The Middle has made him a household name in the US.
Atticus was born in Santa Clarita, California, in 1998. His parents were film buffs who named him after Atticus Finch’s lawyer in To Kill a Mockingbird. He suffers from osteogenesis imperfecta, which means he has fragile bones.
Atticus Shaffer Television Voices
He began his live-action career in 2007 with appearances in episodes of several long-running series on television.
Then between 2010 – 2014, he voiced the character Albert Glass in 28 episodes of the animated series Fish Hooks. In 2011 he voiced Young Emrick in Thundercats, a rebooted version of the 1980s series of the same name.
Between 2013 and 2020, Atticus concentrated on voice roles on television. He voiced Peedee Fryman in Steven Universe and Seabass in one episode of Clarence.
He then successfully collaborated with Ford Riley voicing Ono in three television films spun off from The Lion King Disney film. The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar; The Lion Guard: The Rise of Scar and The Lion Guard: Battle for the Pride Lands form a complete trilogy of films made for television.
Atticus also voiced the recurring role of Fox in Home: Adventures with Tip & Oh between 2016 and 2018. In 2017 he voiced Grumpy Toad in a holiday special episode of Pete the Cat subtitled A Groovy New Year.
Next, he had appearances as Grumpy Toad in 9 episodes of Pete the Cat through 2017 and 2018. The character of Pete the Cat was created by illustrator James Dean as were the other characters in his adventures.
From 2018 to 2020, Atticus provided the voice of Melvin, one of the main characters in the series Harvey Street Girls. This series had been initially called Harvey Street Kids for its first season, but this was changed for subsequent seasons.
Original season’s episodes were then changed retrospectively. The series premiered on Netflix and has proved to be very successful. The fourth – and final – season featured guest appearances by Casper the Friendly Ghost.
Atticus Shaffer Movie Voices
Although Atticus had appeared in several live-action movies, his first voice artist role was in 2012 as Edgar Gore in Frankenweenie. Edgar has a crucial role in witnessing Victor’s success in reviving his dead pet.
Atticus follows this up with a voice role in Super Buddies, with his next movie voice role being in the first of The Lion Guard trilogy.
In 2016 Atticus took on the voice of the character Mooner in the movie Monkey Up. Atticus’ live-action film roles tend to be in comedies or family films.
Atticus Shaffer is successful both as a voice actor and a live-action actor on television and in movies. He has also had considerable exposure as a guest on a long list of talk shows, reality TV shows, and morning TV shows such as Good Morning America. In 2013 he also presented the 40th Annie Awards Show.
