We all love animated movies, but do we know some of the big brains behind them? There are many animation production studios today, but we will focus on Warner Bros Animation. Warner Bros Animation is an animation studio based in the United States.

The owner of the studio is Warner Bros. Entertainment. It succeeded Warner Bros. Cartoons. So, who is Warner Bros. Entertainment?

Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. is the largest producer of television and film entertainment in the world. It is also considered the third oldest movie studio that is still in operation. When it comes to the various facets of the entertainment industry, it leads.

Its subsidiary companies include Warner Bros. Pictures, Warner Bros. Animation, Warner Bros. Studios, Warner Home Video, New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. Television, and DC Comics.

The company was founded in 1923 by the four Warner brothers, Jack, Albert, Harry, and Sam. They were the sons of a cobbler, who was a Polish immigrant. Each one of the brothers was legendary in its own way in the American film industry.

They decided to bring their skills together and created a big family company, Warner Bros. Entertainment, Inc. Let me now help you understand the history of Warner Bros. Animation.

How Was Warner Bros. Animation Birthed?

Before Warner Bros. Animation was started, Warner Bros. Cartoon was in charge of the production of cartoons. It was founded in 1930 and launched the production of Looney Tunes Cartoons. The popular characters associated with this studio were Merrie Melodies and Looney Tunes.

The studio started experiencing low returns and high production costs around the 1960s. This led to it outsourcing other companies to produce new animations related to Looney Tunes for TV commercials and specials. This would be done at regular intervals.

In 1976, an alumnus of Warner Bros. Cartoon, through his Chuck Jones production animation studio, started the production of the Looney Tunes specials series. The first one of the Looney Tunes series produced by Chuck Jones was Carnival of Animals. In 1979, by the leading Warner Bros., Jones produced The Bugs Bunny for Warner Bros.

The film was a blend of Looney Tunes and The Bugs Bunny’s wraparounds. Through this, each of the cartoons was introduced. This became very successful.

In 1989, Warner Bros. Animation studio was opened to continue the production of films that starred the characters of Looney Tunes. The head of the new studio was Hal Geer. He was the sound editor of the original studio in its final years. The staff of the new studio was mostly the veterans from Warner Bros. Cartoon.

In 1986, some of the staff left the studio, including Geer. It was also in the same year that Warner Bros. decided to move into the production of regular television animation. The first original animated series the studio produced was Tiny Toon Adventures. This was followed by Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, and Freakazoid.

In addition to the many animation movies that they produced, the studio also began to develop shows based on characters from comic books. These comic books were from their sister company, DC Comics. These included characters such as Batman, and Superman, among others.

Like every other company, Warner Bros. Animation continued to grow by changing leaders and even merging with other companies based on their needs. In the 1990s, the studio produced many animated shows that aired on television. Some of those that ended up increasing their popularity included Batman, and Tom and Jerry Tales, among others.

A downsizing of the company happened in 2007, reducing its size considerably from what it was in the 1990s. Consequently, Warner Bros. Animation was moved to Burbank, California. In 2008, following the collapse of Kids’ WB which used to be aired on TV every Saturday in the 1990s, the company became quite dormant. The only production they were engaged in was Batman: The Brave and Bold.

The company realized that the only way for them to grow was by increasing their online presence. Accordingly, the new KidsWB.com was launched on the 28 of April 2008. The website puts all the main animation properties in one place. It was very interactive and could be customized for the site visitors.

From the site, children could view both the initially produced content as well as classic animated episodes. They could also play games and explore virtual worlds. In 2009, Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated was introduced. Since then, many other animations have been produced.

Today, the company is bigger and more stable. We have seen them come up with amazing movies like Storks, Smallfoot, The Ice Dragon, and The Lego Movie. The Lego Movie was a classic one that got people talking for months. It even got an approval rating of 86% on Rotten Tomatoes.

What Does the Future Hold for Warner Bros. Animation?

Although it may look like the company has achieved its maximum potential, there is still so much that it can do in the industry. For instance, the studio still has its biggest rival, which is Disney. The future of animation is, however, bright and exceedingly promising.

There is a lot of content out there for producers of animated shows. As technology grows and online platforms increase, Warner Bros. Animation has a more exceptional ability to come up with more content to suit each group. A lot is changing today, making it imperative for animation companies to change as well.

The possibilities for improvement and better production are endless. Unlike in the past, when animations were associated with children, that is not the case today. Even adults watch animated movies and films. That change in the audience creates a platform for more production.

In society today, animations are used in almost all areas of our lives. Technology has also made things more accessible, and so unlike in the 1990s, when the production of a show was problematic, this is much easier today. Many new techniques and tools are making this possible.

Warner Bros. Animation has gone through a series of changes and developments. Although it has had some tough experiences, it has also had a series of successes. All the lessons have helped build them in one way or another. Today, it is one of the biggest producers of animated movies in the world. For this company, the future is bright, and the possibilities are endless.
