Bambi Plot Summary
Bambi Plot Summary The movie shows the forests as the setting, featuring the tall trees, waterfalls, streams, and birds chirping as the film runs. It quickly progresses from the gray background to a sunny one featuring various animals resting on a tree.
It also shows the daily routines of other woodland creatures such as rabbits, woodpeckers, mice, and squirrels. Suddenly, all woodland creatures run in a hurry for something, which is revealed to be the birth of who they call “little Prince,” or Bambi.
The animals gather to greet Bambi and his Mother and watch as he wakes up and stands up for the first time. After Bambi makes his first steps and sounds, the animals decide to go back to their own business and let him sleep and rest.
The following day, animals find Bambi and his mother taking a stroll around the forest and rush to greet him. Every animal they encounter greets him using the name “young prince” throughout their walk.
Bambi stumbles and manages to get back again, now prancing with the rabbits throughout the forest. He introduces himself as Thumper, and they become friends, then continue hopping around.
Bambi says his first word, which is birds. He then chases a butterfly, to which he learns how to call and continues to learn new words as they roam around in the forest. As the movie progresses, the sunny weather is replaced with a rainy one.
Together with his mother, they snuggle to keep warm until the rhythm caused by the raindrops awakens Bambi. Once again, various woodland animals are shown seeking shelter from the rain as the rain becomes stronger, thunder and lightning shock and scare Bambi.
The following day, the weather becomes well again, and Bambi and his Mother walk towards the meadow. As they move towards the field, an excited Bambi rushes toward it but is blocked by his mother.
He is warned that running towards the meadow is dangerous as it exposes them and makes them vulnerable to harm. Once the safety of the meadow is ensured, Bambi’s Mother calls him out to prance around and play in the field.
He is again greeted by Thumper, who encourages him to eat the blossoms. He also meets a frog which he follows towards the stream where he meets a buck fawn called Faline. They are introduced to each other by their Mothers, with a hesitant and shy Bambi initially hiding under his mother.
As Bambi says hello, an excited Faline playfully prances around him, causing him to fall over and stumble into a nearby puddle. Bambi then chases after her, and the two start playing together.
While playing around, they come across the meadow part where many adult deers run around. Bambi mimics them and eventually runs in their direction but suddenly finds himself in the middle of all the deers at a halt.
He meets a large deer revealed when all the deer are halted. He walks close to Bambi, looks at him, and immediately walks away. Shocked and curious, Bambi tells his mother about what happened, to which his mother explains that the reason all the deer stopped was that they respected the giant deer.
She also reveals that he is known as the great prince of the forest. No other deer has come close to his age, and he is the bravest and wisest among them. The great prince of the forest is alone near the waterfall, where he notices trouble nearing.
As he alerts all the deer in the meadow, it causes everyone to rush in panic, and Bambi loses his mother. The sound of a gunshot is heard. Fortunately, the great prince leads Bambi and his mother to safety.
Once safe, Bambi’s Mother assures him that they can come out, and a curious Bambi asks why everyone started running. It was explained that the man was in the forest, posing a great danger to everyone.
After that incident, a curious Bambi experiences snow for the first time. Thumper goes out to play with him in the frozen water, and both enjoy gliding on the ice. Whenever Bambi stumbles, Thumper helps him get back on his feet, and both continue to have a great time.
They also wake up Flower, the skunk, to invite him to play with them, but she explains that he is hibernating. The deer scavenge for food and a warm place to sleep during the blizzard. The next thing they know, it’s spring again.
Bambi and his Mother eat the first grass from spring, but his mother notices danger near them. She immediately tells Bambi to start running fast, and a gunshot is heard. Bambi returns safely to their shelter, but his mother doesn’t.
As he looks for his mother in the snow, Bambi encounters the great prince of the forest, who tells him that his mother cannot be with him anymore. He tells Bambi to come with him.
As spring starts, all woodland creatures sing to celebrate the new season. The old owl quiets them for a while, only to continue singing again. As the owl looks for a quiet place to perch, he encounters Bambi all grown up.
After a long time, it was the first time he came back to visit the woodland. Both Thumper and Flower greet him, all grown up and missing him too. They encounter two birds mating and curiously ask why they behave that way.
The old owl explains that it happens to everyone and describes how it happens and how it feels. The three friends firmly deny that it would happen to them, only for them to experience it, starting with Flower.
Thumper experiences it next as they walk by the tree and encounter a female rabbit. As Bambi drinks water from the stream, he meets Faline and experiences what the old owl described as love.
Another deer already has his eyes on Faline, and the two fight against each other, to his surprise. Bambi wins and walks away with Faline. Bambi and the great prince of the forest talk about men near them and the immediate need to move deeper into the forest.
As everyone runs and panics, Bambi and Faline lose each other, and the animals seek shelter from men holding a gun and shooting them. Hunting dogs chase Faline, and as she is cornered, Bambi hears her and rushes to her rescue.
The men set the forest on fire, and the animals struggle to survive. An unconscious Bambi is woken up by the forest’s great prince and assisted toward safety. They run for their lives as the fire spreads, and they survive.
As they find their new sanctuary, Bambi and Faline reunite, and everyone starts anew.
