Pokémon is a major franchise full of TV shows, movies, video games, trading card games, and much more, and the Pokémon reboot was just announced.
Pokémon was released in Japan in 1996 and made its American debut in August 1998. Since then, millions of kids and adults alike have been working to “Gotta Catch ‘Em All!”
Recently, there has been some news of a new Pokémon reboot anime TV series. This show is considered to be a “soft reboot.” This means it is a Pokémon anime remake but will retain some continuity from the previous versions.
Pokémon Reboot Breakdown
For the first time in the Pokémon anime universe, Ash Ketchum, the main Pokémon trainer, will not be the sole center of the show’s focus. Instead, there will be a new professor and a whole cast of new characters. Insiders reveal that the series will be called Pokémon and take a fresh look at the franchise.
This new version will go back and forth between the two protagonists. Viewers will get to see Ash as a young child, going back to when his story started, but they will also meet a new young main character named Go.
Pokémon Reboot New Hero Go
Go is a ten-year-old boy who has a goal of catching the legendary Pokémon Mew. Go is so intent on catching Mew because he encountered the Pokémon when he was a young boy, and he has since been obsessed with catching the very elusive creature. He is also accompanied by his starter Scorbunny.
A great thing about watching the story flip back and forth between Ash and Go is that they seem to be opposites. Go has a calm, collected personality, which is the exact opposite of the very excitable and wild Ash.
It is also rumored that Ash and Go will get to meet in the show, but probably not in the way you think! The young Ash scenes may be a flashback, while Go’s scenes are in the current time.
Pokémon Reboot New Characters
In the present era, Ash is now a Pokémon Master (from his victory at the Alola League), and it is rumored that Pokémon Master Ash may take young Go under his wing! We think seeing Ash as the Go’s teacher and their dynamic growth will be very cool.
There will be other familiar characters joining Ash and Go, such as Pikachu, Professor Oak, and some villainous Team Rocket members.
Rumor has it that Misty and Brock will make an appearance and show fans how they have grown too. We will also get to see some new faces.
The new professor is called Dr. Sakuragi, and we will also get to know his daughter, Koharu, who will serve as Go’s best friend and possibly even his rival. Koharu’s companion is named Yammer, who is a dog-like Pokémon.
Pokedex Upgraded
The Pokedex also appears to have undergone a modern upgrade. It has a more cell phone-shaped design, likely due to the wildly popular mobile game Pokémon Go.
