The Barbie Diaries Plot

After band practice, Barbie, Tia, and Courtney head to the beach with Kevin, their friend who makes films.

They just finished their last day of summer before their sophomore year, and they make a wish for the following school year while watching the sunset.

Barbie wishes to be a news anchor at their school, Courtney wishes to be a better drummer, and Tia wishes to be their class president. Kevin, meanwhile, did not tell them his wish.

The next day, Raquelle, Barbie’s ex-best friend, steals their parking space at school.

Raquelle’s boyfriend, Todd, is Barbie’s crush. Barbie imagines herself as a popular kid like Todd and Raquelle, who teases her when she sees Barbie staring at Todd.

Barbie reveals to her friends that she and Raquelle stopped being friends when Raquelle became popular.

Barbie auditions to be a news anchor and found out that Raquelle did too. Mr. Wexler chooses Raquelle for the news anchor position, while Barbie becomes her assistant.

Later on, Kevin calls Barbie, Tia, and Courtney to tell them to go to their school’s entrance. Kevin shows them a video of Raquelle and Todd breaking up. After this, Barbie comforts Todd the next time she sees him.

Barbie becomes Todd’s friend, and he gives her a ride home. Kevin, meanwhile, films Tia’s campaign for class president.

While watching a movie together, Barbie and Kevin talked about Barbie becoming Raquelle’s co-anchor.

Mr. Wexler will allow Barbie to anchor, only if she has a good story. When Todd visits Barbie, Raquelle wants him to get out.

Barbie and Todd becoming friends makes her friends happy, and they tell Barbie that the two could go together to the Fall Formal. When Todd asks Barbie to watch his football practice, Raquelle gets annoyed.

Later, when Barbie, Tia, and Courtney, are shopping for the Fall Formal, Todd calls Barbie to tell her that he got back with Raquelle.

Together with her friends, Raquelle teases Barbie when she sees them shopping. A shop assistant who witnessed this gives Barbie a free bracelet and a diary.

Feeling humiliated the following day, Barbie writes in her diary and later sees an audition for Fall Formal. She signs up the Charmz, her band with Tia and Courtney.

Barbie, noticing that Raquelle only cares about her popularity, gives her an idea to study how different popular kids are from unpopular kids.

Kevin helps Barbie by bringing his camera. Courtney and Tia realize that Kevin likes Barbie, but he does not want to tell her because she likes Todd. Tia and Courtney see Todd and Raquelle fighting again.

When Barbie goes to her locker, she finds a note from a secret admirer. Courtney and Tia know it was Kevin. Meanwhile, some students asked Barbie to make lipstick highlighters for them.

Regen and Dawn, on the other hand, hang out with Barbie despite being told by Raquelle not to. Kevin asks Barbie about the letter she got from her secret admirer, and Barbie tells him that he thinks Todd wrote it.

Barbie ignores Raquelle’s effort in making her miserable. Also, she continues to get notes from her secret admirer. One letter tells her that she will see the person who wrote it at lunch.

Kevin joins her for lunch, but she still thought it was Todd when he walked past them.

Barbie’s band Charmz has a successful audition, but later they are sent to detention because of Barbie’s lipstick highlighters.

They figured out that Raquelle falsely reported the band and then made up when they were accepted as performers for Fall Formal.

Barbie realized that everything she wrote in her diary came true and believed that her luck was because of it.

Barbie tries to look for Stephanie, the assistant who gave her the diary, but the other staff at the store says she does not know Stephanie.

The following day, she and her friends put up Tia’s posters for her campaign as class president. They planned to do a rally together, but Barbie did not join.

Instead, she went to the popular kids and told Regen and Dawn that it was Todd who was writing her notes to establish their trust in her.

Barbie starts gaining popularity and spending time with Regen and Dawn, but gossips about them when they are not around. Barbie spends more time on her study of becoming popular than practicing for Charmz.

Kevin proved to Courtney and Tia that Barbie was acting. Regen and Dawn told Barbie to ask Todd about the letters.

Barbie presents her study to Mr. Wexler, and she celebrates with her friends when she gets awarded an anchor spot. Regen and Dawn were furious when they found out that Barbie used them for her project.

Soon, Raquelle finds out that Todd might be the one sending her letters, so she steals her bracelet.

Courtney and Tia found out that Barbie also gossiped about them. The two got mad and decided not to be her friend anymore and not go to the Fall Formal together.

Because of this, Barbie did not air her story. Instead, she showed Kevin’s film that the three of them made up together. Barbie apologizes to her friends after the video airs, and they forgive her.

Kevin comforted Barbie when she realized she had lost her bracelet. Their group of friends went to the Fall Formal and performed as Charmz.

Todd did not leave with Raquelle. Instead, he dances with Barbie, who asks him about the letters. When Todd told her that it was not him, she realized that Kevin was.

Kevin dances with Barbie and gives her back the bracelet he found on the ground when Raquelle leaves the dance.

Later, Barbie and Kevin have a movie night during the last scene.
