Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Quotes

“I’m awfully sorry. I didn’t mean to frighten you. But you don’t know what I’ve been through. And all because I was afraid. I’m so ashamed of the fuss I made.”
Snow White
“I know, we’ll clean the house and surprise them. Then maybe they’ll let me stay.”
Snow White
“Now, a formula to transform my beauty into ugliness. Change my queenly raiment to a peddler’s cloak. Mummy dust, to make me old. To shroud my clothes, the black of night. To age my voice, an old hag’s cackle. To whiten my hair, a scream of fright. A blast of wind to fan my hate. A thunderbolt to mix it well. Now, begin thy magic spell.”

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Plot Summary

Snow White and the seven dwarfs is a classic story that opens with a sad tone. Snow White was born a princess, but her father died, and she is left in the care of her stepmother.

The queen’s stepmother is overly vain and constantly worries that Snow White might be fairer than her. As a result, the queen forced Snow White to work as a scullery maid, the lowest kind of domestic servant.

Because she fears Snow White’s beauty, forcing her to work as a maid might prevent her from blossoming into the most beautiful lady in the land.

The queen asks her magic mirror, “who is the fairest one of all.” For many years, the magic mirror answers that the queen is the fairest of them all.

One day, the usual routine happens. The queen forces Snow White to work on her chores and asks her magic mirror who is the most beautiful woman in the land.

However, something dramatically changed. The magic mirror informs the queen that Snow White is now the “fairest of them all.”

On the very same day, a prince who happens to be passing along overhears Snow White singing. The two meet and fall in love with each other.

Upon learning about this, the queen feels jealous. The queen is no longer the fairest in the land pushes her to take desperate measures.

The queen ordered her Huntsman to take Snow White deep into the forest and kill her. His instructions are to return with Snow White’s heart in a jeweled box.

The Huntsman takes Snow White into the forest. However, he could not bring himself to kill Snow White at the final moment. He confessed to Snow White that her stepmother wanted her dead.

The Huntsman begs Snow White’s forgiveness and urges her to run away and never return to the castle.

Snow White agreed to the Huntsman’s request and fled into the forest. Feeling frightened and lost, the princess made friends with the woodland creatures. The creatures then lead Snow White deeper into the woods to a cottage.

Snow White realized no one was home, so she entered the cottage. She did some exploring and found seven small chairs in the dining room.

The cottage was very untidy. Snow White assumed that the cabin was home to orphaned children. With the help of the woodland creatures, they cleaned the house and cooked a meal.

Eventually, the cottage owners came home, but they were not orphaned children but seven dwarfs. As the dwarves entered their home, they found the place clean. Thus, they suspected that an intruder had invaded them.

The dwarves scoured the place until they found Snow White upstairs. She was sleeping across three of the dwarves’ beds. Upon waking up, Snow White meets the dwarves and introduces herself.

Snow White guesses the dwarf’s names: Dopey, Sneezy, Bashful, Sleepy, Happy, Grumpy, and Doc.

The dwarves finally welcome her to their home as Snow White offers to cook and clean their house.

As Snow White takes care of the cottage, the dwarves go and mine for jewels all day. The dwarves and Snow White all have a merry time with plenty of dancing, playing music, and singing during the night.

Meanwhile, the magic mirror reveals to the queen that she is still not the fairest of them all, as Snow White is still alive and living with the dwarves deep in the forests.

To finally end all of it, the queen takes matters into her own hands. She makes a poisoned apple. Whoever eats the apple will be put into a “Sleeping Death.”

A curse can only be broken by “love’s first kiss.” The queen is sure that Snow White will get buried before her true love can kiss her.

The queen knows Snow White will recognize her when handing over the poisoned apple. Hence, the queen took a potion disguised as an old hag. The queen proceeded to the cottage to deliver the poisoned apple.

As the queen went closer and closer to the cottage, the woodland creatures could see through her disguise and proceeded to attack her. Unfortunately, Snow White did not see past the queen’s disguise and defended her from the woodland creatures.

As gratitude for defending her, the disguised queen hands over the poisoned apple to Snow White, telling her it’s a wish-granting apple.

Believing the old hag, Snow White takes a bite, and she then suddenly falls as the Sleeping Death curse takes over her. The queen then proclaims loudly and wickedly that she is now the fairest in the land.

As this happened, the animals hastily went to the dwarves as they could not successfully warn Snow White about the disguised queen. Together with the animals, the dwarves return to the cottage and find the queen.

The Prince carrying Snow White in his arms

The queen tries to escape. The dwarves and animals chase her until she gets trapped on the edge of a cliff. The queen attempts to roll a boulder onto the dwarves and animals in a final attempt to save herself. But before she could do that, lightning struck the cliff and caused her to fall to her death.

The dwarves return to the cottage to find Snow White lying in a deathlike slumber. The dwarfs refused to bury her, so they placed her in a glass coffin trimmed with gold.

A year has passed, and the prince learns about Snow White’s death-like slumber. The dwarves and woodland creatures watch over her as she lies in a clearing in the forest.

The prince visited her and felt very saddened. He kissed her as a way of saying goodbye. Instead, the kiss causes the curse to break, and Snow White awakens. The animals, dwarves, and prince rejoice, heading back to Snow White’s castle.
